A surprise and delight moment
Gary Ng explains how Apple worked around a potential problem with the size of the space bar on the iPhone 4S on-screen keyboard.
When you’re typing quickly, the light grey dictate key becomes the space bar. If you pause or hesitate your speed ever so slightly, magically, it morphs back to the dictate key again. Brilliant.
I love his description of this discovery as “a classic Apple ‘surprise and delight’ moment”. That’s exactly right.
